Terms of Service

FamKnow is a companion for preserving family memories through conversation, a timeline of people and events, and optional helpers such as web or image lookup and spoken replies. FamKnow is not professional genealogy, legal, medical, or counseling advice.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You may record appropriate stories about younger family members when you have the right to do so.

Keep your login credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account. Provide accurate information. We may suspend or end access for violations of these Terms or to protect the service and its users.

You retain ownership of the stories and materials you submit. You grant FamKnow a limited license to host, process, display, and transmit that content solely to operate and improve the service for you.

You must have an appropriate right or lawful basis to submit information about other people—including living relatives, children, and sensitive family circumstances. Respect the privacy of living people. Do not use FamKnow to harass, defame, or unlawfully expose others.

Replies may be generated by artificial intelligence and can be wrong or incomplete. Genealogy and web search results are leads, not proof. Search is user-initiated and conversational; results are not automatically treated as verified family facts or silently merged as proven relationships. Sources and uncertainty should be taken seriously. Always verify important records before relying on them.

• No abuse, scraping that harms the service, or security attacks
• No attempt to bypass rate limits or abuse the public demo
• No uploading unlawful content or malware
• No impersonation or fraud

Linked images and web pages remain third-party property. FamKnow displays attributions and links where available and does not claim ownership of those materials.

FamKnow’s software, branding, and interface are owned by the operator. You may not copy or reverse engineer the service except as allowed by law.

FamKnow may be offered free of charge today. If paid plans are introduced, additional billing terms will be presented before you purchase.

You may stop using FamKnow at any time and may delete your account from Profile (with email verification) or via the public account deletion page. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. After deletion, residual copies may remain briefly in backups or logs as described in the Privacy Policy.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. AI OUTPUT AND SEARCH RESULTS MAY BE INACCURATE.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FAMKNOW AND ITS OPERATOR ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS OR DATA. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (US $50) IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID.

You will defend and indemnify the operator against claims arising from your content, your misuse of the service, or your violation of these Terms or others’ rights, to the extent permitted by law.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in that jurisdiction will have exclusive venue, except where consumer law requires otherwise.

We may update these Terms by posting a new version with a new effective date. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance, except where applicable law requires additional consent.
